The 2012 ISRA Annual Spring Cruise (co-hosted with Brandywine Cruisers)

 Let’s Get This Season Mooooovin’!

                        The Brandywine Cruisers / ISRA Spring Cruise will soon be a reality – again!  2012 will mark the 5^th annual run to French Lick, IN….. as planned by our own Ingrams Cruise Planners extraordinar’ , Joe and Lisa.  Where you start the run and how many miles you will drive depends on where you begin your day.  At the end of the day it’s a fantastic run through western and southern Indiana and back to where ever.

 Leaving Indy’s west side (Avon to be exact) on SR 36 you will cruise to Rockville for a possible gas and “go” stop (if you had your morning coffee!) where a left turn to the south following good back roads lands you at the Bridgeton Mill.  There is quite a story of survival and revival for one of the oldest working Grist Mills in Indiana.  Taking a south and southeast heading, the cruise will take you to the Loogootee area with a gas stop reroute.  Stoll’s Lakeview Restaurant for a fabulous lunch stop (Amish buffet style) is next up with the final stretch through Loogootee (I like spelling that one) to French Lick coming up next. 

(Watch CLOSELY for the SR 550 south sign off US 50 IN TOWN – it’s a right turn and missed by some!) The first stop in French Lick is usually at the French Lick Winery in the old Kimball Piano Company building and then a must do short trip over to the world famous West Baden Springs Hotel.

The “return to reality” run to the north or ?? is an easy run over to SR 37 and up. 

Is this a long run?  Maybe but not really.  Does it cover a lot of territory? Yup.  Is it a good time?  You betcha!  New friends. Old friends.  The trick is to SLOW DOWN, enjoy the scenery, don’t race from stop to stop.  And, hey, if half the day seems more to your liking…..do Avon to lunch at Stoll’s by way of Rockville and Bridgeton Mill.  Bet you’ll want to change your mind and “look over the next hill” toward French Lick though!                  ~~Mike P
